JUAAN
(Japanese Universities Alumni Association, Nepal) is an alumni
of Japanese universities and institutions. The aim of the JUAAN
is to unite all the former Nepali students who have studied in
Japan for the purpose of contributing knowledge and skill that
were acquired in Japan to the cause of nation building. Our efforts
to this aim have been encouraging.
In addition to it, Nepalese students have a century of relationship
with Japan and its people. The government of Nepal had sent a
group of eight students to Japan for higher studies in 1902.
Cultural heritage of Nepal are closely linked to the Japanese
traditional culture through the underground stream of history
running in unfathomable depth, according to the scholars. Many
God and Goddess that are worshipped in Nepal are also revered
in Japan. With these facts in background, apart from own field
of study, JUAAN makes best efforts to promoting better understanding
and friendship between the people of both the countries.
The number of JUAAN members is 221 to date. More than 200 Nepali
students are studying in different Japanese universities and institutions
at present. Japanese Government provides about ten scholarships
every year. Others receive private scholarships. About 10-20 students
go to Japan for higher studies. |
